SSGA Announces New Team Member

The team at SSGA is pleased to announce the association of Teresa Downs as its western United States Business Development Associate where she will focus on client support and development. She brings 12 years’ experience in the education services industry.  As a former multi-site school owner with 75 employees, Teresa has firsthand leadership experience in all aspects of starting up, managing, acquiring, operating and selling schools.  She also understands the unique needs and concerns of school owners when they are considering selling their schools and is passionate about providing process driven solutions to ensure a successful closing. Teresa sold her largest NAEYC accredited school to a national school company in 2010 and another school to a private operator in 2009.  She remains active in the industry as the President/Owner of a successful after school company with 8 Northwest locations.  Following the sale of her 2 schools, Teresa provided advisory and consulting services for school owners across the U.S. when they were ready to sell their schools. She also provided consulting services for a large, multi-site private school organization, assisting them in improving their financial operations and identifying expansion opportunities, resulting in the acquisition a new early childhood and elementary campus scheduled to open in 2014.  Teresa has been a national conference speaker, teaching workshops on successful school operations and maximizing value for owners when considering the sale of their school.

Teresa lives in Seattle, WA with her husband and daughter and earned a bachelor’s degree in Merchandising from Oregon State University with an emphasis on business.  Prior to becoming an entrepreneur, she held senior leadership positions for a variety of public and private companies and has direct experience in successful business mergers and acquisitions, commercial real estate, company start-ups, all aspects of business finance and operations, human resources management and organizational development.
