Kathy Cropped5/31/16 – Strategic Solutions Group Advisors announced today that it led the sale transaction of Sunrise Preschools, a group of twenty-four child care and afterschool centers to Child Development Schools, a leading national provider of early care, preschool, and school-aged programs. The schools are located in the Phoenix, AZ market and have provided quality education and care to families since 1982.

According to Scott Cotter, CEO of Child Development Schools, “Sunrise represented a unique opportunity to acquire a high-quality group of schools clustered in the growing Phoenix market. The transaction also helps create greater geographic diversity from our traditional southeastern US footprint and will provide greater access to future growth opportunities in the western U.S. Given their positive brand recognition in the Phoenix marketplace, we plan to retain the Sunrise name.”

Kathy Ligon, Founder and Managing Partner of Strategic Solutions Group Advisors led the transaction, having known the sellers in the childcare industry for over 15 years. SSGA was honored to be selected to lead this process, reaching out to both the educational operating community as well as the private equity community, finding the right financial and culture fit for this excellent organization.

Bob Orsi, owner of Sunrise, said, “Kathy Ligon is more than a business broker, she is really the Investment Banker for the child care industry. Kathy gathered all potential buyers and did a great job with the financial information. She mediated between all the parties when needed and knew when to step back. She did a great job for us.”
